The Breeze was forecast to be very light but held enough for us to have a decent race. The earlier start time of 6PM that becomes a necessity in the fall due to the sun setting earlier created a problem for some boats, coming from as far away as Amityville. Having a 9-5 job and needing to be off the dock at 5PM, sharp, and somehow finding time to load up with Diesel, Beer, Ice, Pizza, and Crew, not to mention scrubbing the bottom, creates a problem this time of year.
The Crew of Banshee was over 6 minutes late for the start, significantly behind the fleet. Sailing with a newfound sense of urgency, we said, "If only we can beat one boat, that would be a success. " Well, one boat passed turned into 4 boats passed, and suddenly we were right back in it! If only the race were 2 miles longer and we had another hour of daylight.
