The SBCC hosted the Annual Mayors Cup Race on Saturday, Aug 29th with 8 boats coming out to compete. There were 2 spin class and 6 non-spin class boats.

The light North wind in the morning was predicted to switch to the Southwest by the noon start. Unfortunately that never happened and the shifty Northerly tested the patience and determination of all skippers & crew.

Race Committee set Course 6 (North wind start at #9 buoy, through the bridge to #1 and back to the finish) and right before the start the wind died. Then throughout the race, the wind varied so often in strength & direction that every leg seemed to be a challenging upwind leg! 

Line honors for Spin class went to Team Kennedy in the sportboat Hooch. Jack Morgan & crew on Mystic took Non-Spin class line honors. The race took about 3-3.5 hours to complete the 7.5 mile course this year.

1st spin- Hooch, B. Kennedy

2nd spin- Naughty Dog W. Reichel

-Non-Spin Class

1st non-spin- Mystic, J. Morgan

2nd non-spin- Whitecap, J. Holst

3rd  non-spin- Aleboat II, E. Winberry
